This is the reason why Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo won’t have season 2.
Moon Lover seems to be the movie that many viewers are looking forward to when it is produced the most part 2. Moon Lovers successfully captured the hearts of the audience thanks to the bright cast and great chemistry of the Four Princes Lee Jun Ki and IU.
Currently, although 5 years have passed, the producer has not yet commented on whether he will continue to produce a part 2 for this drama.
So far, netizens have pointed out some disadvantages that make Moon Lover unable to continue season 2 with the cast of season 1.
1. Ji Soo plays the role of Prince Wang Jung in Moon Lover. Wang Jung is a benign, stoic character who often helps people. He had a silent love for Hae Soo and was trusted by her the most in the last days of his life. Thanks to that, the characters Wang Jung as well as Ji Soo received the audience’s love.
After “Moon Lovers” ended, Jisoo also received a number of other film projects and mainly played supporting roles. 2021 is considered a memorable milestone for the actor when he was chosen to play the lead role in River Where The Moon Rises.
The actor who was cast as the lead male character of ‘River Where The Moon Lies’ was accused of being violent in school along with sexually harassing students. KeyEast has released a statement regarding the actor terminating his contract early. Ji Soo signed up with KeyEast agency last year in October prior to grabbing the lead for ‘River When The Moon Lies.’ The agency stated, “This is a notice that the exclusive contract with our agency’s actor Ji Soo has come to a conclusion. We assessed that it is currently difficult for Ji Soo to carry out activities, and we respect the actor’s personal intention to not cause further harm to the agency, so a mutual final decision was made to terminate his contract.”
On May 27, Ji Soo posted his last post on his personal Instagram page to apologize to the audience and will take necessary legal steps to combat the baseless rumors against him. .
Since then, he has almost disappeared from the Korean entertainment industry.
The latest information is that Ji Soo enlisted in the army in early October 2021.
Is Ji Soo retiring from acting?
The 28-year-old actor had earlier announced that he will be enlisting in the military this year in October after the school violence scandal emerged. With KeyEast’s contract getting terminated, fans are speculating if Ji Soo can ever come back to acting. Currently, Twitter users have given the verdict that the actor’s resurrection from the current scandal is pretty difficult given the fact that he needs to face the consequence for his actions.
A user wrote, “Unfortunately his career was already ended. Nothing can fix his image. Knetz are boycotting him everywhere. He should be retire in the industry and find another job. Well I wish him luck.” Another user opined, “I hope people will stop sending hate to him..he did wrong but i do believed a lot people condemned him already for such & thats more than enough, hate must stop..if some people kept sending hate to him,its also a form of bullying..lets strive for forgiveness & peace!”

To be fair, despite the scandal, Ji Soo is really a good and talented actor. So we hope everyone will give him a chance to return to the entertainment industry.
2. Jo Min Ki
Jo Min Ki – Career and reputation collapsed because of a scandal of sexually harassing female students.
Jo Min Ki takes on the role of King Taejo in Moon Lovers as a senior actor with more than 20 years of acting experience and university lecturer, best known for his roles in Queen Seon Deok, East of Eden. However, when the #MeToo movement to denounce violence and sexual harassment broke out in Korea in February 2018, the actor was accused of sexually harassing many female students, making public opinion outraged. Jo Min Ki resigned as a lecturer, admitted the allegations and was found dead in early March 2018 with the cause identified as suicide.
This is the reason why netizens believe that Moon Lover season 2 will never be produced with all the stars of season 1.
