Rising Actor Zhang Ming’en Sparks Heated Debate After Street Altercation Leaves Girlfriend Kneeling in Tears

A viral video showing rising Chinese actor Zhang Ming’en in a fierce public dispute with his non-celebrity girlfriend has ignited widespread outrage and dominated social media trends across China.

According to Chinese media outlet Sohu on October 28, paparazzi captured the intense argument between the couple in broad daylight. During the altercation, the woman became visibly distressed—striking herself repeatedly before suddenly dropping to her knees on the pavement to plead with the actor.

After standing back up, their argument escalated further. The woman fell to her knees a second time before grabbing Zhang’en’s collar to pull herself up. Shortly after sitting down together to talk, she flared up again and began hitting him repeatedly.

Throughout the erratic display, Zhang Ming’en remained noticeably indifferent. He made no effort to comfort or intervene while his girlfriend knelt in front of him, and he silently absorbed her physical outburst as if accustomed to the dynamic. Surprisingly, following the heated conflict, the two reconciled, holding hands as they stepped into Zhang’en’s luxury Aston Martin Vantage and drove away.

The video quickly went viral, topping Weibo’s trending search list for hours. While the exact cause of the fight and the conversation details remain undisclosed, the incident has drawn sharp backlash toward the 30-year-old actor.

Born in 1995, Zhang Ming’en gained fame through popular television series such as The Mystic Nine, Tomb of the Sea, and L.C.A.. However, his career plummeted after a major cheating scandal surfaced in 2020.

Zhang was previously in a high-profile relationship with actress Xu Lu, which they publicly confirmed in August 2019. By late 2019, while still dating Xu, Zhang allegedly became involved with his co-star Hu Bingqing. In June 2020, paparazzi caught Zhang and Hu kissing in a hotel parking lot, sparking immense backlash over infidelity allegations.

The scandal deepened when Hu Bingqing came forward during an exclusive interview with Sina to expose Zhang’s manipulative behavior. She shared text messages showing Zhang coaching her on how to smear Xu Lu’s public reputation to deflect blame from themselves. Following the revelations, Zhang’s public image plummeted, earning him a long-standing position among the most disliked figures in the Chinese entertainment industry.
