HEADLINE: JUST IN: Case Against Michelle Dee, Rhian Ramos, and Samantha Panlilio Dismissed; VACC Vows to Fight On Over “Red Envelope” Drama!
MANILA, Philippines — In a major development shaking up the local entertainment scene, the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office has officially dismissed the criminal complaints filed against Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee, Kapuso actress Rhian Ramos, and former beauty queen Samantha Panlilio.
The resolution, dated September 1, 2026, threw out the charges of slight illegal detention, slight physical injuries, and unlawful arrest due to an utter “insufficiency of evidence”.
The legal battle, which has kept Filipino netizen-Marites on the edge of their seats for months, stemmed from a chaotic backstage confrontation early this year involving a mysterious “red envelope” that allegedly contained private, sensitive photographs.
The Allegations: A Condo Escapade or Retaliation?
The controversy ignited when Ramos’s former driver and personal assistant, Bonifacio “Totoy” Baro, dragged the star-studded trio to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). He claimed he was held against his will inside a condominium unit and physically assaulted over accusations of stealing envelopes with private photos.
However, the legal camp of Michelle and Rhian hit back hard from the start. According to their lawyer, Atty. Maggie Abraham-Garduque, the complaints were “bereft of merit” and merely a retaliatory suit. The camp revealed that Michelle Dee had previously filed a qualified theft case against Totoy, which he had allegedly admitted to before returning some stolen items.
What the Prosecutors Found
In the 17-page resolution, prosecutors noted it was “highly suspect” why Totoy never sought help from condo security guards during his alleged escape. Furthermore, CCTV footage showed he entered the unit voluntarily, rendering his claims of being held against his will physically impossible.
Welcoming the dismissal, Atty. Garduque stated, “We are very happy with the resolution… In the end, justice and truth prevail.”
Plot Twist: VACC Refuses to Back Down
Just when the beauty queens and the actress thought the saga was over, the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) stepped in.
Backing the driver, the anti-crime watchdog called the prosecutor’s decision “questionable” and announced they are already preparing a Motion for Reconsideration. They vowed to take the legal battle all the way up to the Supreme Court if necessary.
It looks like this star-studded legal drama is far from its final curtain call!
