Actor Lee Nam Hee Passed Away!
The actor has been confirmed to have passed away at the age of 64.
According to Star News Korea, Lee Nam Hee breathed his last on April 22nd, at the age of 64. Despite suffering from some underlying health conditions, Lee Nam Hee remained actively involved in acting. Recently, he was even preparing to participate in a theatrical production. Therefore, the news of his sudden passing has saddened many colleagues and fans.
Lee Nam Hee’s remains are laid in state in Room 15 of the Severance Sinchon Hospital Funeral Home in Seodaemun District, Seoul. The funeral service will be held at 10:20 AM on April 24th. The veteran actor will be buried at Seoul City Crematorium.
Born in 1962, Lee Nam Hee was one of the leading figures in Korean theater. He debuted in 1983 with the play *Antigone*. Later, the actor actively participated in plays such as Antigone, Othello, and Unhyeongung Orabeoni. Beyond the stage, he also ventured into television, appearing in popular series like Doctor Prisoner, Six Flying Dragons, and God of War. He also appeared in films such as Seoul, Evita, and The Priests.
Lee Nam Hee’s enduring acting career earned him the respect of audiences and colleagues alike. In 2011, for his role as Mephisto – a character abandoned by God in the play Ur Faust – he won the Best Actor award at the 48th DongA Theatre Awards and the Best Actor award at the 4th Korean Theatre Awards. Furthermore, he received the Best Actor award from the Korean Theatre Association in 1998 and the Acting Achievement Award in 2000.
