ADOR Wins Contract Validity Lawsuit Against NewJeans — NewJeans Must Pay All Legal Fees
The courts have ruled in favor of ADOR regarding ADOR’s court case confirming the validity of their contract with NewJeans.
On October 30 KST, Seoul Central District Court judge Jeong Hoe Il shared the court’s ruling on ADOR’s lawsuit against the five NewJeans members to confirm the validity of the agency’s contract with the members. No members from NewJeans were present at the ruling, only legal counsel from both sides were present.
It is difficult to say that the defendants’ (NewJeans’) continuing their entertainment activities with the plaintiff (ADOR) as something that goes against their free will or as forcing them to fulfill their exclusive contract.
We recognize that the exclusive contract will remain valid and that ADOR will be the management company for NewJeans under the exclusive contract.
The exclusive contract signed on April 21, 2022 between ADOR and NewJeans will remain valid. The defendants shall bear the costs of the litigation.
— Judge Jeong Hoe Il
Judge Jeong Hoe Il also shared that it was difficult to conclude that ADOR breached the exclusive contract by dismissing Min Hee Jin from her position and rejected her claim that her public postings against ADOR were meant to protect NewJeans.
Tenasia has added that NewJeans’ exclusive contract with ADOR lasts until July 31, 2029. They also stated that considering the time that the contract was suspended due to the lawsuit, the contract length may be extended even further.
Back in November 2024, NewJeans announced their intent to terminate their contract with ADOR, citing trust between the group and the agency was broken.
