Actor and former dancer Cha Hyun Seung, widely known for his performances alongside Sunmi, opened up about his ongoing battle with leukemia and the emotional toll of his treatment journey.

On October 25, a new video titled ‘Escaping the Hospital’ was uploaded to Cha Hyun Seung’s official YouTube channel, offering viewers a candid look into his daily life as he continues treatment.

In the video, Cha shared, “The bone marrow test was so painful. The doctor said my levels might rise within a week, but since they’ve been fluctuating a lot, we decided to monitor for another day or two. So, my discharge has been delayed… I can’t help but feel upset.”

Despite his weakened condition, he was seen doing light exercises in hopes of boosting his immune system. He sighed as he revealed, “I did a blood test early today, and my immune count dropped again to 499. This is exactly why I didn’t plan to leave the hospital yesterday.”

Later, he expressed concern over his blood levels, saying, “My neutrophil count reached 644, so I was cleared for discharge, but my platelet count keeps dropping. I don’t know if that’s okay.” After finally being discharged, he smiled, adding, “I’ll have to come back in about ten days, but at least I got to step outside for a bit.”

However, his relief was short-lived. Cha soon had to be readmitted to the hospital, where he shared, “I had a bone marrow and tissue biopsy, and I’ve been lying down for six hours. When platelets drop, the capillaries burst, causing petechiae (small red spots).” He continued, “They say transfusions aren’t needed when platelets are above 50,000, but mine are at 30,000, so I’ll probably need another one today.”

Cha also described the physical challenges he faces, suffering from high fever and chills. “I keep watching travel videos because I want to go on a trip so badly. I was shivering so much I couldn’t even hold my phone, but after taking fever reducers, I feel a bit better. It’s tough,” he admitted.

Cha Hyun Seung first gained fame as Sunmi’s backup dancer and later appeared on Mnet’s dance survival show ‘Be Mbitious’ (2022) and Netflix’s ‘Physical: 100′ (2023). In January 2023, he retired from dancing and began pursuing a new career as an actor.

Earlier this year, Cha revealed that he had been diagnosed with leukemia, saying, “My life came to a sudden stop when I was rushed to the emergency room in early June.” His honesty and resilience continue to inspire fans as he documents his fight against the illness.
