Actor of the movie “Reply 1988” Song Young Kyu was arrested for investigation, affecting many projects he is participating in.

KoreaBoo reported that the police of Gyeonggi province, South Korea are investigating and prosecuting without detention actor Song Young Kyu, on charges of violating the Road Traffic Law.
According to the authorities, the actor of “Reply 1988” was arrested at 11pm on June 19 (local time) after the police received a report about a man driving while intoxicated.
Through security camera extraction, the traffic police identified the vehicle as belonging to Song Young Kyu and proceeded to stop the car and arrest him. The test results showed that Song Young Kyu’s blood alcohol concentration exceeded 0.08% – the level that results in a driver’s license being revoked under Korean law.
After being arrested, Song Young Kyu expressed remorse and apologized to the public. The actor said: “My momentary mistake ruined everything. I drank because I was in a bad mood and didn’t drink too much. I’m not saying this to justify my actions. I broke the law and committed acts that endangered society. I’m truly sorry.”
Song Young Kyu’s legal scandal has affected the projects he is participating in. The actor is currently participating in 3 art projects including the play “Shakespeare in Love”, the TV series “The Defects” on ENA and “Try” on SBS. Both of these dramas have just aired their first few episodes.
After the incident caused a stir, the theater troupe said they would keep Song Young Kyu’s performance in “Shakespeare in Love” because they could not find a replacement.
Meanwhile, the crew of “The Defects” announced that they would edit and remove Song Young Kyu’s scenes within the scope that does not affect the flow of the film and the audience experience. The crew of “Try” is looking for a solution to Song Young Kyu’s case, because the work has been filmed, so editing will be very difficult.
