Kim Soo-hyun Denies Debt Pressure Allegations: “Branded a Murderer Just for Being Kim Sae-ron’s Ex”
Kim Soo-hyun denied allegations of debt pressure on late actress Kim Sae-ron, calling claims false and fabricated post-scandal.
Actor Kim Soo-hyun has strongly denied claims that he pressured the late Kim Sae-ron to repay debts, calling the allegations false and emotionally driven due to their past relationship.
On March 31, Kim held a press conference at a hotel in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, alongside his legal representative, Attorney Kim Jong-bok from LKB&Partners. This marked his first public appearance in 21 days since Kim Sae-ron’s family alleged that he dated her as a minor and contributed to her mental distress.
Kim Soo-hyun Denies Debt Pressure and Underage Dating Allegations
Kim Soo-hyun denied dating Kim Sae-ron as a minor or pressuring her over debt, describing their relationship as a normal one that ended naturally, with limited contact afterward out of respect.
Addressing further accusations, he emotionally said, “Even during her drunk driving incident, I knew she was seeing someone else, making contact inappropriate. The family claims I drove her to death just for being her ex, forcing me to confess to things I didn’t do – calling me a murderer for allegedly grooming her as a minor and pressuring her financially.”
Kim Soo-hyun Responds to 700 Million KRW Debt Notice
The controversy intensified after Kim Sae-ron’s family demanded an apology over two official notices sent by Kim’s agency, Gold Medalist, requesting repayment of a 700 million KRW (approx. 477,000 USD) debt. The family alleged the notices caused her extreme emotional distress, while Gold Medalist claimed they were routine measures to avoid legal risks like embezzlement accusations.
Kim responded, “After our relationship was exposed, the YouTube channel (Garo Sero) released newly recorded calls with her last agency CEO to falsely portray debt pressure. The call shows former Gold Medalist CEO Byun Jin-ho clearly explaining the notice was routine administrative procedure, not threat.”
He added, “I can’t confirm if her last agency CEO is lying now compared to a year ago, but I won’t admit to things I didn’t do. All the family’s evidence – voice recordings and KakaoTalks – were newly produced after the scandal broke and are fabricated.”
