The Disappearance of Rising Star at the Thai Border: Found with Leg Injuries, Detained with 50 Others, Forced into a Shocking Act
The latest updates on the disappearance of a young actor after traveling to Thailand for a film project have stirred public attention in China.
As of January 7, after being missing for 78 hours, actor Wang Xing was located by Myanmar authorities in the Mekong River border area, near the boundary between Myanmar and Thailand. After his rescue, he was flown back to Bangkok.
In an interview with Thai media, Wang Xing revealed that he was tricked into traveling to Thailand under the pretense of participating in a film project. Upon arrival, he was taken to a building where he was detained with approximately 50 other Chinese nationals. He stated that they were forced to learn typing, an activity suspected to be linked to telecommunications fraud operations.
Wang Jing said he will continue cooperating with Thai authorities to investigate and clarify the case. He also expressed gratitude to the Thai government for their timely assistance. Although he was not seriously harmed, he appeared exhausted, gaunt, and had his head shaved. Photos showed visible injuries on his legs.
Upon returning to Thailand, Wang Xing thanked the government and immigration office for their help in ensuring his safe return. He expressed admiration for the country and said he would love to visit again if given the chance.
Earlier, on the evening of January 5, Wang Xing ‘s girlfriend, Xing Xing , posted a plea for help on social media after losing contact with him for several days. She disclosed that Wang Jing had flown to Thailand on January 3 for a new film project but went completely missing by noon on January 3. On January 6, Xing Xing and Wang Xing’s family traveled to Bangkok, seeking help from the embassy and local authorities in their search.
