MANILA — Korean singer Soobin, leader of Tomorrow X Together, recounted an alleged overcharging attempt by a taxi driver in Cebu.

In the newest vlog of Tomorrow X Together, Soobin said that he already checked and that the estimated fare from the airport to the hotel should be around P300.

“Well, we know it will be about P300. Let’s try out Taehyun’s advice. Taehyun’s traveled to Cebu before so we asked him for some travel tips. And he told us to just act angry if anyone tries to overcharge you, just start acting angry,” Soobin said as per English translation in the video.

After asking of how much the fare was, the taxi driver replied that it was P500.

The PUV driver can also be heard saying that the high fare was “because the gas is very expensive.”

But while inside the taxi, the driver tried to charge P1,000 but Soobin and his friend managed to keep it to P500.

“Did you hear that? I’m reporting this. You heard that, right? Just now, he said P1,000. Don’t edit this part out, okay? I mean, P500 is already pushing it,  and then he raises it to P1000,” Soobin said.

After stepping out from the taxi, Soobin once again shared his experience with the taxi driver.

“Once we arrived the driver tried to charge us PHP1,000, again but we told him firmly that we were only going to pay PHP500. I can’t believe he’d raise the price so suddenly like that. We agreed on PHP500 before getting in. But after we arrived at the hotel, he tried to charge us PHP1,000,” he added.

Despite the incident, Soobin and his friend got to enjoy their break in Cebu,  where they tried various activities including ziplining and swimming.
