A male actor was killed while transiting in Iran during airstrikes carried out by the United States and Israel.
China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that one of its citizens had died in Iran.
Mao Ning, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said:
“A Chinese citizen in Tehran was recently affected by the military conflict and unfortunately lost his life,” she stated, expressing her deepest condolences to the victim’s family.
According to reports on Weibo, the victim was a young male actor who was on his way back to China from Turkey. He had chosen to transit through Iran to spend a few days traveling. Unfortunately, this coincided with airstrikes launched by Israel and the United States against Iran. The actor’s identity has not been disclosed.
According to Mao Ning, as of March 2, about 3,000 Chinese nationals had been evacuated from Iran.
Meanwhile, the Japanese government said it is making every possible effort to ensure the safety of Japanese citizens in Iran and neighboring countries.
About 200 Japanese nationals are currently in Iran. Many of them are reportedly unable to leave quickly due to family or business reasons.
Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is considering various options, including assisting those who wish to leave Iran in evacuating by land to neighboring countries. The ministry plans to decide on specific measures after assessing the number of people seeking evacuation, the regional situation, and other relevant factors.
