‘KPop Demon Hunters’ breakout singer Ejae to marry Korean-American producer Sam Kim after historic Grammy win
Ejae, the first K-pop artist to win a Grammy Award, is set to marry Korean-American music producer Sam Kim, according to industry sources.
Maeil Business Newspaper reported on Feb. 6 that the couple will wed on Nov. 7 at a golf course in Los Angeles operated by Ejae’s mother Shin Hye Jin.
The Korea Times said the pair first met in 2017 while collaborating as songwriting partners and became engaged in late 2023.
Ejae publicly confirmed the engagement last month, sharing photos on social media of Kim proposing and placing a ring on her left hand. She has also referred to her wedding plans in recent interviews and broadcast appearances, saying she intends to marry this fall.
The marriage news follows a milestone year for Ejae, who recently gained global attention for her work on Netflix’s animated film “KPop Demon Hunters.” She contributed as a songwriter, lyricist and vocalist to the original soundtrack song “Golden,” which topped both the Billboard Hot 100 and the U.K. Official Singles Chart, achieving simultaneous No. 1 rankings.
“Golden” went on to win Best Song Written for Visual Media at the 68th Grammy Awards earlier this month, marking the first Grammy win in K-pop history.
Ejae, 35, previously trained as an idol under SM Entertainment and is now active as a songwriter and composer.
