Beauty Goddess of Showbiz AOA’s Mina Suffers Severe Facial Burns After Cosmetic Procedure — Her Current Condition Breaks Hearts

On the evening of February 8, StarNews reported that actress and former AOA member Kwon Mina experienced a terrifying cosmetic accident after visiting a clinic for a beauty treatment. According to sources, as she was preparing to attend multiple upcoming events, Mina decided to undergo a laser face-lifting procedure in hopes of appearing as radiant and flawless as possible.

However, when she woke up after the procedure, the former AOA member immediately noticed alarming symptoms. The 1993-born star shared:
“When I woke up, the pain was so intense that I burst into tears. When I looked in the mirror, I saw my facial skin had been burned, peeling off in layers and curling up, with fluid leaking out and terrifying blisters forming. I completely broke down at that moment.”
On her personal social media, Mina posted a series of photos showing severe burns across her face and neck. She revealed that she had been diagnosed with serious second-degree burns. The idol added that the pain was far worse than she had ever imagined.
Before the horrific incident, Mina was considered one of K-pop’s top visual “beauty goddesses.”
In a recent post, Mina also expressed frustration at what she described as contradictory explanations from the clinic:
“The clinic director said there were no mistakes during the procedure. They claimed the only possible cause was a defect in the device’s tip. But later they said that if the tip were faulty, the machine wouldn’t have worked at all. So what is the real cause?”
Mina went on to accuse the clinic of irresponsibility. Despite being a long-time customer, she said she was not asked to sign a new consent form, did not receive a proper skin consultation, and was not clearly informed about potential risks or side effects before undergoing the treatment. She emphasized that the consent form she had previously signed was for an entirely different type of lifting procedure.
Beyond the physical injuries, the traumatic incident has also taken a serious toll on her mental health. Mina revealed ongoing emotional struggles:
“Because of this, I started having panic attacks. Eventually my mother discovered the alarming condition of my face and broke down in tears. That moment truly shattered my heart.”
Due to the severe burns, Mina has been forced to cancel numerous previously scheduled activities. She expressed regret and apologized to brands and partners for missing events:
“Whenever I have to postpone or cancel schedules, I feel like I need to apologize immediately — to the point where I want to cry. There are people I still haven’t been able to contact, and I want to sincerely apologize to them. I truly wanted to work hard with everyone, but things turned out like this.”
The idol admitted she still does not know whether the burns will leave permanent scars. She painfully shared:
“The diagnosis is second-degree burns. The pain is truly unimaginable.”
Born in 1993, Mina was active as a member of AOA from 2012 to 2019. After leaving the group, she accused leader Jimin and other members of bullying her, though later reports from Dispatch challenged those claims and defended the group.
