My Love from the star’s actress Nam Jung Hee suddenly passes away.
Throughout her career, she appeared in approximately 300 films, solidifying her position as a significant figure in the history of Korean cinema.
On February 24th, the Association of Senior Filmmakers and Families announced the death of veteran actress Nam Jung Hee at the age of 84. She passed away at her home on January 22nd due to old age and declining health. Nam Jung Hee’s health had deteriorated following spinal surgery a year prior.
The veteran actress, born in 1942, debuted at the age of 20 with the film “Simcheongjeon.” Throughout her career, she appeared in approximately 300 films, including “Festival,” “Chang,” and “Chunhyangjeon” directed by Im Kwon Taek, as well as “Jeong” directed by Bae Chang Ho, establishing her status as a key figure in the history of Korean cinema.

In the 1990s, Nam Jung Hee was a familiar face to audiences through classic dramas like “Hourglass” and “Romance.” In recent years, she appeared in many popular films such as “A Werewolf Boy” (alongside Song Joong Ki and Park Bo Young), “I Am Murderer,” “Brother,” and “My Love from the Star.” Her contributions were recognized with a Special Performance Award at the 48th Grand Bell Awards in 2011.
The sudden passing of Nam Jung Hee has shocked and saddened the film industry and the public. Her funeral will be held in Room 14 of the Severance Hospital Funeral Home at Yonsei University in Sinchon, South Korea, at 8:00 AM on January 26th.
