YouTuber and fitness model SangHyuk was reportedly arrested by police for refusing a breathalyzer test and attempting to flee the scene.
According to News1, a popular YouTuber with 1.65 million subscribers was arrested by police for refusing a breathalyzer test and attempting to flee the scene. According to Songpa District Police, Seoul, the incident occurred at around 3:40 a.m. on September 21. Police received a report of a suspected drunk driving case and chased the suspect’s vehicle.
The suspect allegedly abandoned the vehicle and ran for about 300 meters before being subdued by police. Despite repeated requests from police, the suspect refused to take a breathalyzer test and was arrested on the spot for violating the Road Traffic Act. The news quickly caused a stir in Korean public opinion, leading to much discussion.
There have been many rumors circulating on social media that this person is SangHyuk (real name Kwon Sang Hyuk). He is a YouTuber famous for his mukbang (eating) videos. Although the police and SangHyuk have not yet confirmed this information, many netizens have flooded SangHyuk’s YouTube channel and personal page, leaving harshly critical comments. Viewers have asked him to explain and declared that they will boycott if the YouTuber continues to remain silent.
In response to the wave of public opinion, SangHyuk’s social media account has been temporarily locked.
SangHyuk started his career on AfreecaTV in 2018, then gained attention in 2019 thanks to his appearance at Seoul Fashion Week and in a number of advertising campaigns, including an advertisement for Narangd Cider.
