Hard to Save Jeon Ji Hyun: Lost $34 Million Overnight, Abandoned by Her Own Management
Storms are crashing down on Jeon Ji Hyun.
The actress is facing a massive boycott in China. Top luxury brands like La Mer, Piaget, Ecovacs, and Louis Vuitton have erased her image and pulled all ads featuring the Korean star. A Chinese fashion label that was scheduled to film a campaign with Jeon Ji Hyun in Seoul on September 25 abruptly canceled plans this morning (September 23).

According to China Times, several brands are now demanding $34 million in compensation from Jeon Ji Hyun, after her drama sparked outrage over alleged scenes “disrespecting China.” She has also been blacklisted as a “high-risk artist,” effectively shutting her out of China’s entertainment industry.
Even more shocking, her Chinese representation has washed their hands of her, claiming they have nothing to do with her recent controversy. Netizens believe Jeon Ji Hyun may be forced to pay brands out of her own pocket. This comes as a crushing blow, especially since her husband’s failed business ventures have already left the family’s finances in turmoil. With no strong management backing her, Jeon Ji Hyun may be left to fight this storm alone.
Meanwhile, PEACHY (Peach Company) – the agency Jeon Ji Hyun personally founded after leaving IEUM Hashtag in June – denied the “blacklisting” rumors. They insisted her Chinese schedules were merely “postponed” and had nothing to do with Tempest. However, the reality looks grim. Chinese fans are dropping her en masse, her market value has collapsed overnight, and social media accounts tied to her name have been locked from comments due to waves of backlash.
Netizens mocked her statement as “saving face,” pointing out the obvious: Jeon Ji Hyun has gone from China’s beloved “goddess” to a public enemy in record time.
Worse still, Disney+ and the producers of Tempest have stayed silent, offering no clarity on whether the controversial scenes will be altered or cut.
Chinese media compares her case to Jang Na Ra’s infamous scandal, when she admitted she acted in China “just for the money.” Many believe Jeon Ji Hyun’s situation is even more severe, with industry insiders warning this controversy could end her career in China for good.
