Song Ji Hyo sheds tears as ‘Running Man’ members react to Kim Jong Kook’s marriage announcement
Song Ji Hyo reacted with emotion to the news of Kim Jong Kook’s marriage, joining the rest of the ‘Running Man’ cast in surprise.

On the August 24 broadcast of the SBS TV variety show ‘Running Man,’ Kim Jong Kook officially announced his marriage.
Yoo Jae Suk remarked, “I thought it was a joke.”
Kim Jong Kook said, “I’m really getting married. I’ll do my best to live well.”
Yoo Jae Suk added, “I only found out today,” revealing he had just learned the news himself. Ji Suk Jin, amazed at how Kim Jong Kook had kept the marriage a secret, joked, “If you were born in the past, you should have been an independence fighter.”
Song Ji Hyo, visibly moved, showed her emotions.
As members reacted with comments like “Is this real or not?” and “This is so great,” Yoo Jae Suk noticed Song Ji Hyo’s tears and asked, “Ji Hyo, are you crying?” She tearfully responded, “I’m really touched right now.”
HaHa, who is so close with Kim Jong Kook that the two co-own a barbecue restaurant, was left completely speechless in shock.
Years earlier, when Kim Jong Kook found out about HaHa’s marriage belatedly, he had jokingly declared, “I’ll make sure you only find out about my marriage through a news article.” After announcing his own marriage, Kim Jong Kook laughed and added, “I really wasn’t going to tell HaHa until the very end.”
The members kept asking, “Is this really true?” still struggling to believe the announcement.
As Kim Jong Kook became increasingly flustered under the spotlight, Yoo Jae Suk stepped in on his behalf, offering congratulations: “Every New Year, people would ask when Jong Kook would get married, and now finally he is.”
Kim Jong Kook explained the reason for his sudden announcement: “As you all know, I even dislike celebrating birthdays. I wanted to keep it quiet. If the news had come out on another day, I was worried you’d end up putting up a banner about it on ‘Running Man’…”
That episode also featured actors Jang Dong Yoon and Kim Ah Young as guests. They too whispered to each other, “We heard someone’s getting married,” which drew laughter. Yet even with the guests present, the ‘Running Man’ members remained in shock, unable to shake off their dazed expressions.
Kim Jong Kook had actually made the announcement during the filming of ‘Running Man’ on August 18, directly in front of the cameras. The sudden news caused confusion, with the members initially mistaking it for a hidden camera prank.
On the same day, Kim Jong Kook had also shared his marriage news
through a handwritten letter posted on his official fan café. In the letter, he wrote, “It may be very late, but I’m so grateful to be able to take this step now. I will do my best to live well.”
The full episode featuring Kim Jong Kook’s on-air announcement is scheduled to air on August 31. Originally planned for September 7, the production team moved it up by a week.
Kim Jong Kook will be getting married on September 5 in Seoul. His bride-to-be is a non-celebrity woman.
