Miss Philippines Acquene Arradaza Kidnapped, Body Found at Sea
Police discovered the body of Miss Acquene Arradaza floating at sea on August 4, four days after she was kidnapped. Initial investigations showed that this was a “targeted attack”.
On August 12, Daily Mail reported that Acquene Arradaza – a 35-year-old beauty queen from the Philippines – suffered a horrific death, four days after being kidnapped by a group of people at a grocery store.

While working, a group of fishermen discovered the body floating off the coast of Barangay 99 Diit, Ormoc City on August 4, then reported it to the police.
The victim was found naked, with her mouth and eyes gagged, her hands and feet tied tightly, and her neck locked with a bicycle lock.
Police said the victim’s body was tied to two sacks of rocks, with the intention of disposing of the body and sinking it to the bottom of the sea. The forensic examination identified the victim as Miss Acquene Arradaza, who was kidnapped on July 31.
“The body was bloated and not intact. The neck, hands and feet were also tied tightly. The face was covered with black cloth and even wrapped in tape,” said Police Major Shenna Layog, acting commander of Tacloban Police Station No. 2.
According to the investigation, Acquene Arradaza, a former Miss Matag-ob, Philippines, was kidnapped on July 31 while shopping at a store in Ormoc City.
Video footage from a surveillance camera shows a black Toyota Wigo with license plate 1799 stopping in front of the store, three armed men rushed out, used force to put her in the car and escaped. The incident was reported by the victim’s family on the morning of August 4, the same day her body was discovered.
Lt. Nova Tan, spokesperson for the Ormoc City police, criticized the victim’s family for not reporting the disappearance earlier. She said Arradaza could have been saved if the family had reported it earlier.
Police are working to track down the suspect and investigate the motive of the kidnappers. Investigators have determined that the attack was intentional and premeditated.
The victim’s mother, Vilma Arradaza, is campaigning for justice and calling on Philippine politicians for help.
Acquene Arradaza’s sister said the beauty queen spoke to a man named Pay-ap Drilon the morning before she was kidnapped. The case is still under investigation.
