The Relationship Between Yu Zheng and Zhao Lusi
The relationship between Yu Zheng and Zhao Lusi has come under the spotlight amid recent controversy surrounding the actress.
Zhao Lusi has accused her management agency, Galaxy Cool Entertainment, of mistreatment—alleging that the company caused her health and financial damage and demanded contract termination. The scandal has sparked widespread public attention.
As a result, several other figures in the entertainment industry have been dragged into the conversation. Notably, producer, director, and screenwriter Yu Zheng drew attention when he responded to a fan asking about Zhao Lusi’s situation.
Yu Zheng remarked, “Isn’t what she’s going through similar to what the male lead faced in The Storm Is Coming? Betrayed by his own people—look at how Xiao Beiming (played by Wang Tingwei) overcame hardship and learn from it.”
While Yu Zheng appeared to express sympathy for Zhao Lusi—suggesting that she was “stabbed in the back” by those close to her—he simultaneously used the opportunity to promote his drama starring Wang Tingwei, an actor signed under his own company, Huanyu Entertainment.
This led many to believe that Yu Zheng wasn’t truly supporting Zhao Lusi, but rather capitalizing on her name during a heated moment to drum up publicity for his own projects.
When asked whether he would consider signing Zhao Lusi to his company, Yu Zheng declined to respond.
According to news outlet 163, Yu Zheng is known for being a publicity-savvy producer with a history of controversial online remarks. So, his comment on Zhao Lusi’s scandal came as no surprise. Still, despite Zhao Lusi’s current popularity, it appears that most producers would prefer not to get involved with her during such a turbulent time.
In truth, Yu Zheng and Zhao Lusi’s relationship has long been puzzling.
Back in 2018, when Zhao Lusi had just entered the entertainment industry, she starred in the drama Untouchable Lovers, produced by Yu Zheng. He later revealed that he had helped her land the role without having to audition.
However, by 2020, tensions erupted between the two. Yu Zheng was caught criticizing Zhao Lusi in a private chat, calling her ungrateful and claiming that she had unfriended him on social media after becoming famous.
He later stirred more controversy by hinting that Zhao Lusi was a “green tea” type—referring to someone who appears sweet and innocent but is actually manipulative and cunning.
Although Yu Zheng publicly denied criticizing Zhao Lusi and claimed he had clarified the situation with her team, fans continued to believe their relationship was far from friendly.
In January of this year, after Zhao Lusi suddenly fell ill, rumors resurfaced alleging that Yu Zheng had once pressured her in order to support a former manager—who was said to have bullied Zhao Lusi and contributed to her depression.
Although Zhao Lusi never named anyone directly, Yu Zheng responded with a post tagging her account and demanded to know what he had done to deserve the backlash.
He insisted that he had once helped Zhao Lusi and was furious about being dragged into the drama, even accusing her of “repaying kindness with resentment.”
However, just one day later, Yu Zheng did a complete U-turn, claiming that he had spoken with Zhao Lusi for an hour and that both sides had resolved the misunderstanding.
Many viewers now believe that Yu Zheng is simply a master of media manipulation—often leveraging Zhao Lusi’s fame to generate buzz for his own benefit.
