Zhao Lusi Livestreams Bombshell Accusation: Claims Management Locked Her Up for an Exorcism Instead of Sending Her to Hospital
Tensions between Chinese actress Zhao Lusi and her management company Galaxy Cool Entertainment have reached a boiling point and are now dominating headlines. On the evening of August 4, Zhao shocked fans during a livestream, alleging that the company locked her up for an exorcism ritual instead of seeking proper medical treatment when she experienced serious health issues.

According to Zaobao, Zhao revealed during the broadcast that while filming the drama Lover 2024, she suffered a severe physical and mental breakdown. However, instead of being taken to a hospital, her management locked her in a hotel room and staged a bizarre ritual.
“They didn’t take me to a doctor. Instead, they called in a so-called master and performed an exorcism in a hotel. They claimed I was cursed and had spells cast on me everywhere,” Zhao recounted.
The 27-year-old actress said her family was devastated, crying helplessly as they witnessed the incident.
“It was outrageous. I’ve worked in this industry for 10 years and still had to go through something like this. My dad cried, my mom cried—everyone was in tears,” she added.
The livestream immediately went viral on Chinese social media, dominating Weibo trends and sparking massive discussions and reactions online.
During the same stream, Zhao also addressed rumors about plastic surgery, failed business ventures, and personal mistakes. She expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from fans and colleagues who reached out over the past two days amid her conflict with the company.
“I’m truly touched. Because of those who treated me poorly, I can now see how precious the kindness around me really is,” Zhao shared. She explained she simply wanted to finally unburden herself after holding everything in for so long.
The feud between Zhao and Galaxy Cool Entertainment had already made waves prior to the livestream. On August 2, Zhao publicly accused the company of fraud and manipulation, stating they forced her to pay a 2.05 million yuan (~7.5 billion VND) compensation out of her personal studio account.
“I wasn’t well, so I had to cancel some brand endorsement deals to reduce stress while filming. They claimed they’d take responsibility for my condition, but in the end, I was the one who had to pay,” she wrote.
Zhao also said she tried negotiating an amicable contract termination, but her attempts were ignored. Instead, she was allegedly threatened with industry blacklisting if she spoke out.
“I was already rotten from the inside out—there’s nothing left of my dignity. You don’t need to blacklist me; I’m done,” she stated. Zhao also attached two medical reports detailing her diagnosis of severe anxiety and depression, including clinical tests showing serious mental health concerns.
On August 3, Galaxy Cool Entertainment issued a statement, saying they were shocked by Zhao’s claims and had reached out to her. The company denied all allegations of misconduct or breach of contract and claimed they had prioritized her physical and mental well-being.
They urged Zhao to communicate with them directly and avoid posting “vague or misleading content” on social media.
Zhao swiftly refuted the company’s response, claiming no one from the company had tried contacting her, and accused staff of spreading rumors within the industry that she was faking her illness.
Amid the storm, Zhao posted an update on Douyin, assuring fans she was doing fine:
“Many are spreading rumors saying I’m doing all this because I’m mentally ill… I just want people to know I’m undergoing treatment and don’t want anyone to speculate about me. I’m okay. I’m calm now.”
She said she shared everything publicly because she couldn’t bear the burden anymore. To fans, she reassured:
“After all these years in the industry, I haven’t earned that much, but I do have some savings. So don’t worry about me. If I really can’t keep working in showbiz, I’m thinking about opening a noodle shop. It’s okay. Nothing lasts forever.”
At the end of 2024, Zhao suffered a serious health crisis, which forced her to halt filming Lover, leading to the disbandment of the production crew. She was diagnosed with anxiety, depression, and even temporary language impairment, prompting a period of rest and treatment. Earlier this year, she made a gradual comeback with a TV show chronicling her healing journey.
