After the gym business fails, the boss pretends to organize a company trip, then tricks and sells over 30 employees to a operation in Myanmar.
Over 30 employees of a gym were deceived by their manager, who pretended to organize a company trip to Thailand but ended up selling them to a scam syndicate in Myanmar.
According to a recent report by TVBS News, a Chinese netizen exposed that a gym in Shanghai, China, recently shut down. More than 30 of its employees were tricked by the regional manager under the pretense of an “employee vacation” and taken to a scam operation hub in Myanmar.
Their current fate remains unclear. On the Chinese social media platform Weibo, distress messages from some of the trapped employees surfaced, including one that read: “Please don’t share this. If it spreads, I’ll be beaten to death.”
A private investment manager in Shanghai revealed that the incident involves a gym called “Wells” located on Panyu Road, which closed down not long ago. He claimed that a friend had once considered taking over the gym’s business but discovered that the manager and over 30 employees had already been “sold off.”

Other Weibo users also noted that suspicious signs began to appear at the gym from the second half of last year. Several branches in other districts were forced to merge or suspend operations. According to insiders, the Panyu Road branch officially shut down in August last year. After that, the regional manager transferred the store managers and staff to work at a branch in Shenzhen. A few months later, he organized a supposed “year-end bonus trip” to Thailand—but instead trafficked them into Myanmar, where they are now subjected to exploitation.
One of the victims sent out a cry for help, saying he was being held in the Apollo area of Myawaddy, eastern Myanmar. He revealed, “They gave me the code name ‘Hitler.’ Our company here is called the Zuo Shen Group. I’m sharing this information in hopes it reaches my brother.” He also provided his family’s phone number, asking the recipient to call his mother, and pleaded: “Don’t let this leak, or I’ll be beaten to death. We used to be colleagues—please help me, just this once.”
