As the controversy surrounding allegations of a past underage relationship between actor Kim Soo-hyun and the late Kim Sae-ron continues to escalate into a full-blown evidence war, ASTRO member-actor Cha Eun-woo has now been unexpectedly dragged into the dispute

On April 3, YouTuber Lee Jin-ho, who has been sued for defamation by Kim Sae-ron’s family, uploaded a video titled “Cha Eun-woo after Kim Soo-hyun? Fact-checking ‘Garo Sero Institute’ Kim Se-ui’s False Statements” on his YouTube channel.

Lee Jin-ho began by criticizing Garo Sero Institute’s Kim Se-ui for allegedly showing irrelevant photos instead of the original KakaoTalk screenshots supposedly exchanged between Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron in June 2016. He then pointed out three key issues.

First, Lee refuted Kim Se-ui’s claim that Kim Sae-ron had not attended university. Citing Kim Soo-hyun’s side’s evidence, Kim Se-ui had stated that Kim Sae-ron did not graduate. Lee corrected this, stating, “Kim Sae-ron dropped out in her first year of high school and passed the GED. She then entered Chung-Ang University’s Department of Performing Arts and Film Studies in 2019. How could someone go on air without even knowing such basic facts? Are you deliberately altering her age on a broadcast that could determine someone’s life?”

Second, regarding a photo of Kim Soo-hyun allegedly taken by Kim Sae-ron on September 20, 2017, Kim Se-ui had claimed metadata proved she took the photo while in her first year of high school. Lee countered, “That photo? It was actually taken before July 2014. The photo circulated among fans for years and clearly shows a very young Kim Soo-hyun.” He added that multiple tips had confirmed the image’s origin, and metadata showed a July 2014 timestamp. “It even appeared on a fan blog post in August 2014.”

Third, Lee strongly disputed Kim Se-ui’s claim that Cha Eun-woo did not attend Kim Sae-ron’s funeral. Lee emphasized, “That statement proves again that Kim Se-ui doesn’t even verify basic facts. Cha Eun-woo absolutely attended the funeral. He was there from the first evening until late at night. We’ve secured statements from multiple people who greeted and sat with him.”

Lee concluded his video by challenging Garo Sero Institute, stating, “Let’s see how long these false claims keep working.”

Meanwhile, Cha Eun-woo turned down the offer to star in Hong Sisters’ new drama alongside Go Min-si.
