On the afternoon of March 17, attorney Boo Ji-seok, representing Kim Sae-ron’s family, held a press conference in front of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.

Kim Sae-ron’s Family Pursues Legal Action

Attorney Boo Ji-seok stated, “In order to file a defamation lawsuit against YouTuber A for spreading false information, Kim Sae-ron’s family needed to have the dating rumors confirmed.” He further claimed, “All we wanted was for Kim Soo-hyun’s side to acknowledge the relationship.”

He added, “However, the false statement from Kim Soo-hyun’s side has caused further distress to the bereaved family, and even now, we hope for a sincere apology.”

The attorney revealed, “After the agency sent the first legal notice, Kim Sae-ron texted Kim Soo-hyun, essentially pleading for help. In response, Kim Soo-hyun sent a second legal notice.”

He explained, “The second notice stated that the situation could constitute a breach of trust. However, the main point was that Kim Sae-ron was given a deadline to repay the debt.” It also warned that she should not contact Kim Soo-hyun or any actors from his agency and threatened legal action over photos she had uploaded.

Regarding a photo Kim Sae-ron had posted on SNS last year, where she was cheek-to-cheek with Kim Soo-hyun, the attorney stated, “The notice warned that if she posted similar photos, contacted agency actors, or caused damage to Queen of Tears, she would be liable for full compensation.”

He continued, “After receiving the second legal notice, Kim Soo-hyun never contacted her again, and she also lost touch with actors from his agency. We do not understand why they are now claiming to be waiting for contact through a public statement. We are considering legal action.”

Kim Soo-hyun’s Agency Faces Backlash

Previously, the YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute claimed, based on the bereaved family’s statements, that “Kim Sae-ron was in a romantic relationship with Kim Soo-hyun since she was a minor.” In response, Kim Soo-hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, immediately denied the claim as “clearly false.”

However, Garo Sero later released additional evidence, including photos of Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron kissing on the cheek, letters from Kim Soo-hyun, and messages regarding the 700-million-won lawsuit.

As the controversy escalated, Gold Medalist eventually admitted, “Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron were in a relationship from the summer of 2019 to the fall of 2020, after she became an adult.” However, they denied dating while she was a minor.

Regarding the release of private matters, the agency stated, “A public dispute is not the appropriate way to restore Kim Sae-ron’s honor. There is no justification for exposing private photos, and we urge people to refrain from spreading personal information.” They also expressed their willingness to meet with Kim Sae-ron’s mother for a full discussion.

Meanwhile, the bereaved family continues to demand an official acknowledgment and apology. They claim that Kim Soo-hyun’s agency has been manipulating the media for the past three years, initially denied the relationship, and pressured Kim Sae-ron to repay 700 million won through legal notices.

New Legal Notice Raises Questions

The bereaved family recently discovered the second legal notice while organizing Kim Sae-ron’s belongings. Professor Kwon Young-chan, present at the press conference, stated, “The crucial part is that the family found this second notice last night. It contained a warning that if she ever posted such photos again, contacted agency members, or harmed Queen of Tears, she would be held fully responsible for losses.”

YouTuber Kim Se-ui added, “The existence of the second legal notice was only discovered this morning. We will disclose the details in our 7 PM broadcast later today. But for now, what we can say is that Kim Sae-ron was continuously threatened. The document even instructed that no actor from Gold Medalist should contact her.”

Finally, Attorney Boo emphasized, “Only Kim Soo-hyun knows how he and Kim Sae-ron parted ways, as she is no longer here to tell her side. However, based on her messages, it doesn’t seem like they broke up due to a major fight. Instead of support, the only response she received to her plea for help was a second legal notice filled with threats. I hope people consider how she must have felt.”
