On the January 5 episode of JTBC’s variety show “Please Take Care of My Refrigerator”, Song Joong-ki and Lee Hee-joon appeared as guests.

When asked if there was a chef he wanted to meet, Song Joong-ki responded, “I wanted to meet everyone here, but if I had to pick one, it would be Chef Kwon, the ‘Napoli Matfia .’ I’ve wanted to meet him for a long time.”  (Napoli Matfia, or Kwon Sung-jun, is the winner of the famous cooking show “Culinary Class Wars”)

He continued, “My wife Katie has lived her entire life in Italy, so I spend half the year living there and have naturally grown fond of Italian cuisine. I remember watching Chef Kwon win ‘Culinary Class Wars’, and it still sticks in my memory. The way he handled the wok for risotto—I was in awe. Honestly, I’m a little nervous and feel shy about meeting him.”  

Hearing this, Host Kim Sung-joo playfully teased Chef Kwon Sung-jun, calling him “Song Joong-ki’s celebrity,” as the chef bashfully reacted.

In the same episode, Song Joong-ki also revealed his wife’s nickname. In particular, the actor said, “My wife chose it. We call each other ‘Honey’”, adding, “When my wife heard me pronounce ‘Honey’ in Korean, she said it was so beautiful and suggested we call each other ‘Honey’.”

Meanwhile, Song Joong-ki announced his marriage to former British actress Katie Louise Saunders in January 2023, along with the news of her pregnancy. In June of the same year, the couple welcomed their first son in Rome. On November 20, he shared on his official fan cafe that his wife had given birth to their second daughter in Rome, which is known to be Katie’s hometown.

The actor has also disclosed various anecdotes about his wife and marriage life, such as openly bragging about her cooking skills and etiquette.
