Girl’s Generation Seohyun And 2PM Taecyeon’s Drama Team Apologizes For Damaging UNESCO World Heritage Site

Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun and 2PM’s Taecyeon are starring in the drama The First Night With The Duke. It was recently made public that the filming had caused damage to the Byeongsanseowon Confucian Academy. This posed a problem as it is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It was claimed that the production team had drilled a nail into the walls of the building.

On January 2, 2024, the team from KBS issued an apology about the matter.
We are sorry to have worried viewers with the matter. The production team received prior permission for filming last year-end from the Andong Byeongsanseowon, and in the process of installing props, a passer-by who was observing the set had protested the matter, claiming that it should not have been possible to drill a nail and hang a prop up at a preserved site. No matter the reason, KBS acknowledges the gravity of the situation and we deeply regret what occured on the site of filming. We are currently working to confirm the exact details of the incident and to determine the best course of action for restoration.
They vowed to take the necessary steps to restore the damage caused to the site and to carefully consider future steps to prevent a repeat of the matter. The drama is about a college student who possesses the body of a minor character in a romance novel.
