Air Canada Express Plane Carrying 73 Passengers Encounters Landing Incident, Several Injured
An Air Canada Express flight, operated by PAL Airlines and departing from St. John’s, Newfoundland, experienced a landing incident.
The incident, which occurred at Halifax Stanfield International Airport (Canada), temporarily delayed all flight operations on the evening of December 29.
According to airport spokesperson Tiffany Chase, the Air Canada Express flight encountered difficulties around 9:30 PM on December 29. The plane, a Bombardier Q400, reportedly experienced a landing gear malfunction and was unable to taxi to the terminal, as confirmed by Air Canada Express spokesperson Peter Fitzpatrick.
The crew and 73 passengers were transported by bus, with several sustaining minor injuries.
Flight operations were suspended following the incident pending further updates. One of the airport’s runways resumed normal operations shortly after. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the incident.
Fitzpatrick also stated that Air Canada is awaiting clearance from the Canadian Transportation Safety Board to access the aircraft and return passengers’ luggage.
Air Canada Express, a brand of the national carrier Air Canada, primarily provides domestic flights and connections to the United States. These routes are operated under subcontract agreements with other airlines.
