Yoo Ah-in’s ₩6.3 Billion House Sold to a 7-Year-Old Child? “Paid Entirely in Cash”
On December 26th, Biz Hankook reported that the Itaewon detached house, previously owned by Yoo Ah-in, had its ownership transferred on December 19th. The surprising detail is that the buyer is a 7-year-old child, born in July 2017, who allegedly paid the full purchase price of ₩6.3 billion in cash without any loans.
Previously featured on MBC’s variety show “I Live Alone”, Yoo Ah-in’s Itaewon house was sold last month for ₩6.3 billion. The buyer’s family name is reported to be “Park”, and the child is presumed to be the offspring of Park Hwa-mok, CEO of Piece Peace Studio, and designer Lee Soo-hyun. The registered address for the ownership transfer matches the residence of CEO Park and his wife. Real estate experts speculate that the total investment, including gift taxes and other expenses, may exceed ₩10 billion, given the child’s inability to be financially independent.
Fashion industry insiders believe that the Park family may intend to repurpose the property for business use, such as turning it into an office or store.
Meanwhile, Yoo Ah-in faces numerous charges, including the use of propofol 181 times between September 2020 and March last year and illegally obtaining 44 doses of sleeping pills under another person’s name between May 2021 and August last year. He is also accused of ordering acquaintances to destroy evidence and coercing others into smoking marijuana. In his first trial, Yoo Ah-in was sentenced to one year in prison, a ₩2 million fine, 80 hours of drug rehabilitation education and a forfeiture of about ₩1.5 million.
On December 24th, during his second trial, he was sentenced to 4 years in prison. Yoo Ah-in pleaded for leniency, stating, “I will vow before the public and swear in this sacred courtroom not to forget the gravity of the law and never repeat my foolishness.”
