KBS Bans Broadcasting BlackPink Jennie’s New Song!!
Korean media reported that Mantra – Jennie’s (BlackPink) new song was suddenly banned by Korea’s largest TV station KBS.
The official reason for Mantra being banned is because the lyrics mention a brand name, specifically Defender – a Land Rover car line.
The Land Rover Defender also appears in the Mantra MV
KBS (Korean Broadcasting System) is Korea’s oldest national radio and television station, with nearly 100 years of experience in broadcasting/television.
Therefore, the station’s censorship system is also very strict, not allowing disguised advertising in any form.
Mantra was released on October 11, marking Jennie’s solo comeback after 8 years.
Although not as popular as Rosé’s MV APT., this is still one of the notable K-pop MVs at the end of the year.
