Famous singer causes motorcycle accident that kills woman, kneels down to victim’s family at scene
The singer was in a state of shock at the incident.
Officers from Kannayao Police Station and rescuers from Ruamkatanyu Foundation were alerted to the accident on Sukhapiban 5 Overpass after being notified at around 4am on 10 October. They found a damaged Honda Click motorbike on the bridge and a black Hyundai truck about 10 metres away.
The body of a 28-year-old Thai woman named Meji was found on the bridge, while her brother, 21-year-old Junior, was seen in the lane below. He had fallen off the bridge and was seriously injured. The two were riding a motorbike with another brother, 24-year-old Jinnipha, who was not injured.
Jinnipha told police that she had dropped her water bottle on the bridge, so she asked her brother Junior to stop his motorbike so she could pick it up. Junior parked on the right side of the road and waited for her.
Unfortunately, a black truck driving at high speed crashed into the motorbike while Junior and Meji were still on the bike. Her sister died at the scene, while Junior fell off the bridge. He is said to be in critical condition at Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital.
The driver of the car was famous singer Sirisak “Tik” Nantasane, better known as Tik Shiro. The 63-year-old singer waited for police at the scene and expressed his desire to cooperate with legal proceedings. He stated that he had been driving all his life but had never been in such a serious accident.
The parents of the three siblings later arrived at the scene, both deeply saddened. Tik rushed to apologize to the couple, but the mother was furious and condemned Tik for driving at such a high speed. Tik knelt down to apologize to his parents and the victims.
The police then took Tik to the police station for a breathalyzer test. The results of the test have not yet been released.
Many netizens expressed their condolences to the family, and many sympathized with the singer, saying he might not have seen them on the dark bridge.
Others criticized the three siblings for breaking traffic laws by riding together on a motorbike and stopping in a dangerous place. The parents also faced criticism for blaming the singer, even though their children had broken traffic laws.
