King Vajiralongkorn (Rama X) deposed his ex-wife Srirasmi Suwadee, cut off all her allowances, forbade her from traveling freely, and forbade her from seeing her son again.
According to international media, Srirasmi’s friend Somsak Jeamteerasakul recently posted a picture of Srirasmi on Twitter. In it, Sirat is wearing monk clothes and looks haggard. She is cleaning and growing vegetables in the temple.
Srirasmi (now 52 years old), was born in Samut Songkhram province. In 1993, at the age of 22, she enrolled in Bangkok Business School and later became Vajiralongkorn’s maid when he was still the crown prince.
In 2005, Srirasmi gave birth to Prince Dipangkorn. That same year, Vajiralongkorn married her, making Srirasmi his third wife and a royal title.
But their relationship did not last long. Photos of Srirasmi half-naked at Vajiralongkorn’s secret party were exposed by foreign media. The consequences of Srirasmi’s tarnished image were so severe that her husband divorced her in 2014 and stripped her of all her titles, demoting her to a commoner.
Srirasmi was reportedly forced not to see her son Dipangkorn again. Meanwhile, despite being the sole heir to the throne, Dipangkorn rarely appears in public in Thailand and has been attending the Waldorf School in Wolfratshausen, Germany, since 2011. Dipangkorn (now 19) lives in a villa with a swimming pool, overlooking a lake with dozens of servants in the wealthy Feldafing neighborhood, in Bayern, Germany.
