A Celebrity manager with cancer offers $9.4M to 19-year-old male Idol instead of family
Sun Derong, a celebrity manager known for elevating Taiwanese stars such as singer Show Lo, has proposed NT$300 million (US$9.36 million) to a key opinion leader (KOL and Idol ) in exchange for his care.
According to the South China Morning Post, Zhang Shaoan, a 19-year-old male Idol, revealed Sun’s offer in an Instagram video on Aug. 18. In the video, Sun is seen asking Zhang if he would agree to become his son.
Sun added that he would leave his wealth to those he cares about, rather than his family, because “they already have their own 2,500 sq ft (232 square meters) luxury homes,” according to Singaporean news outlet 8days.
At 63, Sun has been a significant figure in Taiwan’s entertainment industry, helping to shape the careers of many successful artists. He was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2013 and subsequently underwent surgery to create an artificial bladder using part of his intestine, which has led to ongoing complications and frequent hospitalizations.
Despite these challenges, Sun has remained optimistic and continues to connect with his audience through his YouTube channel, where he has accumulated 166,000 followers.
