Princess Kate announces completion of chemotherapy, confirms return to royal duties!!
Princess Catherine of Wales (or Kate) has completed 9 months of chemotherapy to treat cancer and will return to public activities.
Kensington Palace (British Royal Family) on September 9 posted a video sharing the Princess of Wales after a period of absence.
In the video, Princess Kate said that she had finished her 9-month chemotherapy. Although the cancer cells have been removed, she still has a long way to go to heal and fully recover.
“The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family,” she says in the video, filmed last month in Norfolk, on England’s eastern coast. “The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you.”
“Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus,” she continued. “Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes.”
The palace said the princess has begun working from home on a number of projects and will return to “a light programme of outside activities for the remainder of the year”.
The statement also stressed that it was not possible to say at this stage whether the princess was officially cancer-free. Patients are usually declared cancer-free when no cancer cells are detected in their body for five years.
In March, Kate made a surprise announcement that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was in the early stages of chemotherapy. She did not reveal what type of cancer she had, but said it was a “huge shock”.
