74-year-old woman swallowed by 4-meter-long python
The incident of an old woman being attacked by a giant python has terrified many people.
Police and local officials in Palopo, South Sulawesi province, Indonesia continue to announce another case of a person being attacked by a giant python. Specifically, a 74-year-old woman was swallowed by a giant python that was more than 4 meters long. According to officials, this is the third case of a person being attacked by a python since June.

According to the report, this old woman named Maga (74 years old) did not return home on August 14 after going out. Therefore, her family conducted a search after she went missing.
Ms. Maga was later found dead, the cause of which was “a giant python squeezing and swallowing her”. At the scene, Ms. Maga’s legs and head were covered with bite marks left by the python. A Palopo official said the python that attacked Maga was more than 4 meters long.
After discovering Maga’s body, the giant python was also a few meters away. Local residents attacked and killed the python. Some witnesses said the python tried to swallow Maga up to the shoulder, but then it released her.

Before Maga, this area also recorded two cases of people being attacked by pythons in June and July. The attacks mostly involved giant pythons and the victims were usually weak women who could not fight back when attacked.
Indonesia is known as a country with a large population of giant pythons, living mainly in rural areas or dense forests. According to experts, the development of pythons in Indonesia is very strong and they are not affected by urbanization.
