This is the 4th time IU has witnessed close colleagues passing away due to suicide.
IU had the opportunity to work with Lee Sun Kyun in 2018 with the film “My Mister”. The film revolves around two main characters, Park Dong Hoon (Lee Sun Kyun) and Lee Ji An (IU) – unfortunate people living in a pragmatic and harsh Korean society.
In an interview, IU said Lee Sun Kyun was her best co-star. She had given many compliments and expressed gratitude for being taught and passed on experience by her senior while filming “My Mister”.
Goo Hara and Sulli
At the end of 2019, Korean showbiz was gloomy and sad when witnessing two female idols Goo Hara and Sulli passing away from suicide. In just over a month, the audience lost two artists in the most beautiful age of their lives.
Goo Hara and IU met while co-hosting the music show Inkigayo. The close relationship between the two also arose from there. Sulli, IU and Goo Hara were a close group of friends.
In November 2019, the entertainment industry was shocked when Goo Hara committed suicide at her home. At that time, the loss of Sulli’s sudden death more than a month ago had not yet subsided.
During her solo concert, IU choked up when mentioning Sulli: “My dear friend cannot come here to watch. Before, she would always come to my concert no matter how busy she was.
