Recent reports from Sports Chosun reveal that a Chinese media outlet claimed Tang Wei had passed away. This news quickly spread online, causing the keyword “Tang Wei death” to trend in search results. Despite the rumors being false, recent posts on Tang Wei’s social media are flooded with condolence messages, such as “Our beloved actress Tang Wei has passed away. We will miss her dearly, but she will not be forgotten.”
By the afternoon of July 29, Tang Wei’s management company issued an official statement. The company stated: “The death rumors are false. Tang Wei is one of many celebrities harmed by this rumor. She is still alive. Do not believe in these fake news reports.”
Tang Wei, born in 1979, is renowned for her roles in films such as Lust, Caution, Late Autumn, The Grandmaster, The Golden Era, Last Night on Earth, and more recently, Decision to Leave (2022). She married director Kim Tae-yong in July 2014 after meeting him through the film Late Autumn. The couple welcomed their daughter, Summer, in 2016.
Recently, Tang Wei appeared alongside Park Bo Gum and Suzy in the film Wonderland, directed by her husband. However, the film failed at the box office and was quickly withdrawn from theaters.
