South Korean First Lady Kim Keon Hee was interrogated by prosecutors for 12 hours.
South Korean prosecutors questioned First Lady Kim Keon Hee, after she was accused of receiving a Christian Dior handbag and other expensive gifts from a pastor.
The Seoul Central Prosecutor’s Office said on July 21 that Ms. Kim was directly questioned at a government building yesterday (July 20). The interrogation lasted 12 hours, ending at 1:20 am.
The interrogation content related to the allegation that Ms. Kim received a handbag worth about 2,175 USD and other expensive gifts from pastor Choi Jae-young in September 2022 in exchange for some incentives. .
Ms. Kim’s assistant said earlier this month that the first lady ordered the Dior handbag returned immediately after she received it from Pastor Choi. But the female assistant forgot to return the bag because she was too busy.
In addition, prosecutors also questioned Ms. Kim about allegations of stock manipulation related to Deutsch Motors Inc., a BMW car dealer in Korea.
Prosecutors sent a written questionnaire to Ms. Kim last year, but did not receive a response.
In the case of suspected stock manipulation, Kwon Oh-soo – former director of Deutsch Motors, is said to have conspired with influential market players to manipulate the company’s stock price from December 2009 to December 2012.
The Court of Appeal is expected to sentence Mr. Kwon in September.
