Actor Kim Woo Bin surprised when he bought the old building of BIG HIT, the birthplace of BTS, for 10.7 million USD
On the 25th, Kim Woo Bin’s agency, AM Entertainment, confirmed to Star News, “Kim Woo Bin has purchased a building located in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.”
According to the real estate industry, the building Kim Woo Bin acquired is the former headquarters of Big Hit Entertainment (now HYBE), which is known for managing BTS. The purchase price of the building is 13.7 billion KRW (approximately 10.7 million USD).
Big Hit Music used this building from 2007 until they relocated their office from Nonhyeon-dong to Samseong-dong in 2018. The company rebranded to HYBE and moved to Yongsan in 2020.
When the news spread, it wasn’t surprising that ARMYs got extremely nostalgic. Even though BTS has been in the new HYBE building for a number of years, it holds so many memories and is a must-see place for any fans visiting Korea.
ARMYs were also unsurprisingly concerned. Many worry that the sale of the building could lead to a renovation of the location, including removing all the words and messages that have been built up over the years.
Netizens tried to think positively, believing that Kim Woo Bin was making an investment, and hopefully understood the significance of the building to millions of fans worldwide, meaning he wouldn’t make any changes.
Many hope that the location will retain the memories and are shocked that HYBE didn’t purchase the building.
