Yong Junhyung breaks his silence on his involvement in Jong Joon Young’s illegal recordings scandal
Singer Yong Junhyung attempted to explain that he was not a member of the ‘Jung Joon Young group chat room’ that consumed illegal footage.
Junhyung posted on his Instagram on June 12 KST, “I clicked on the video that was sent to my personal messenger without any explanation on a black screen, and I couldn’t tell what it was or what the intention was until I clicked on it to check it.” He added, “‘Stop it, this is wrong. ‘ I could have said that, but I wasn’t the type of person to say such things, so I just ignored it,” he recalled at the time.
Junhyung continued, “I have never entered a group chat room, nor have I been involved in an incident where something unspeakable happened,” and “I didn’t have the confidence to bring up the past and talk about it again, and I couldn’t muster the courage to think that it would just pass. I spent all this time ignoring it.”
“I hope that everyone, including my family and people I love and cherish, and the fans who look at me for my shortcomings, do not get hurt,” he said, “I deeply reflect on the things I failed to correct in the past and the foolish actions and remarks I made.”
“I will work hard every day to become a mature person,” he added.
Meanwhile, Yong Junhyung left Highlight in March 2019 after it was belatedly revealed that he had received an illegally filmed sex video from singer Jung Joon Young. At the press conference for his solo comeback in 2022, Junhyung had said, “I did not belong to any group chat rooms. However, I recognize that there was something wrong in the conversation at the time and I know that it was my fault for not being able to correct it. I can only greet you with good things from now on.”
