Chinese actress Zheng Shuang said she has exhausted her assets and lives on money her parents sent to the U.S.
According to Chinese web portal QQ, on Feb. 5, Zheng Shuang posted on her talent agency’s secondary account, talking about debt accusations that she had a lot of money but avoiding payments.

The actress denied owning assets of over US$31 million in China, explaining that if she had such a large amount of money, she would not need to work hard to pursue a child custody case.
She is still in the US, fulfilling all court conditions in the hope of claiming custody of her two children.
Zheng Shuang said she has no job and lives on his parents’ retirement money. She hopes to have opportunities to work and pay off debts according to the court’s decision.
Regarding the accusation of debt evasion by film producer Zhang Fan, the actress said she had negotiated with the production company to find a way to get the film licensed to broadcast, but the company did not cooperate. She had no other choice.
Over the years, Zheng Shuang has felt ashamed and guilty of past mistakes, and she is trying to correct them.
The actress hopes relevant parties will stop spreading negative and false news, causing her to suffer more.
Previously, on Feb. 2, Zhang Fan, investor and producer of the movie “Secret Keepers”, revealed the cooperation process and conflicts between him and Zheng Shuang.
In 2019, Zhang Fan borrowed money to make the movie starring Zheng Shuang. In 2021, the actress was involved in a scandal of hiring a surrogate mother and evading taxes, causing the movie to have no chance of release.
He filed a lawsuit against the actress and was awarded a victory by the court in Jiangsu Province in late 2022.
The court ordered Zheng Shuang to pay Zhang Fan’s company a total of CN¥120 million (nearly $16.9 million). To date, she has not served the order.
According to Zhang Fan, he went to the U.S. to talk to Zheng Shuang, but she went into hiding and did not pay his debt, even though she had assets worth more than $31 million in China.
According to the producer, “Secret Keepers” was filmed in 61 days, and Zheng Shuang received a daily wage of nearly CN¥2 million ($281,000).
Zheng Shuang has lived in the U.S. for more than two years, since it was revealed that she and her ex-boyfriend Zhang Heng hired a surrogate mother.
Zhang Heng accused her of wanting to abort the fetus and then not caring for the baby. After their two children were born, Zhang Heng stayed in the U.S. to take care of them.
In 2021, Zheng Shuang went to the US to strive for gaining custody, but eventually the court ruled Zhang Heng had custody of the two children, and Zheng Shuang was allowed to visit them at fixed times during the week.
As reported by the South China Morning Post, surrogacy is prohibited in China. However, some Chinese individuals exploit legal loopholes to pursue surrogacy abroad. Reports of surrogacy often elicit criticism within China.
Besides the surrogacy controversy, Zheng Shuang was also fined CN¥299 million ($46.1 million) for tax evasion.
Last year Zheng Shuang’s father posted a long post on his social network account, saying his daughter “suffered pain that normal people cannot imagine.”
He said over the years, Zheng Shuang faced one incident after another, suffering great trauma, but she strongly overcame it and ignored hatred to live her life.
He believed his daughter suffered unjustly because of her entanglement with Zhang Heng.
According to him, when they fell in love and decided to hire a woman for surrogacy, Zhang Heng cheated on her many times.
Zheng Shuang saw photos and sex videos of Zhang Heng with another woman. At that time, she could not accept the truth and was mentally unstable, so she proposed to abort the fetus.
Zhang Heng secretly recorded these words, as evidence to fight against Zheng Shuang, according to the actress’ father.
