BTS’s RM: “I feel exhausted just trying to please everyone”
Topping global charts with his just released album, RM feels like he’s just like any other 29-year-old Korean guy but lives a slightly different life.
“I am the representative face of BTS so I have to always say the right and positive things,” RM shared in a video uploaded to the group’s official Youtube channel. This is a video recorded 6 months ago before he joined the army. In the video, RM sits with Jimin, another member of BTS, to share deeper messages surrounding the newly released album.
“I’m just a normal 29 year old Korean guy, with a slightly different life. But during my 10 years as a member of BTS, I felt a lot of pressure to always be right and different . I feel exhausted just trying to please everyone,” the male idol confided.
RM’s second solo album Right Place, Wrong Person released on May 25 includes 11 songs describing the feeling of “wrong person, right place”. It’s a feeling that’s hard to name when everything fits together, the only thing that’s out of place is yourself. “Everyone has had a time when they felt like the whole world around them was okay but they were still lost and insecure,” RM explained.
If the first half of the album makes listeners feel lonely and miserable, the second half brightens with messages of comfort and inspiration for those who are struggling alone in a lonely world.
“You have put in a lot of effort. You will definitely do well and will always be brighter than me right now,” RM sent a message to his future self.
