A female millionaire suddenly passed away, leaving a fortune of 2.7 million USD to her maid.
Ms. Nutwalai, 49 years old, inherited an inheritance worth 100 million baht (2.7 million USD) including a villa, jewelry and cash after the business owner passed away.
Ms. Nutwalai Pupongta has worked for Ms. Catherine Delacote for 17 years. Recently, Mrs. Delacote was diagnosed with cancer. On April 29, she committed suicide with a gun next to a swimming pool at a private villa in Koh Samui (Thailand).
The 59-year-old businesswoman owns a hotel with five pool villas in Koh Samui, land, cash and cars. Mrs. Delacote and her husband moved from France to Koh Samui 12 years ago. The two are divorced.
In a text message sent to her maid before her death, Ms. Delacote said she left Nutwalai the villa, 0.32 hectares of land next to the villa, a luxury car, some jewelry and cash.
She also texted many other relatives about her illness and her intention to leave her assets to the maid. She also left two other villas to her ex-husband and asked Mrs. Nutwalai to take care of three cats.
Police said Ms. Delacote transferred 500,000 baht ($18,000) to Ms. Nutwalai to cover funeral expenses, pay Internet and electricity bills, and pay the maid’s salary. Authorities did not find anything suspicious in Ms. Delacote’s death.
However, the police are confirming the legal issue related to the deceased’s shares in the business of which she was the authorized director, before handing over inheritance rights to Nutwalai.
