According to the entertainment industry on the 18th of September, actor Byun Hee Bong passed away on this day at the age of 81.
Byun Hee Bong, who had previously been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and received a complete recovery after treatment, was revealed to have passed away after a recurrence of the cancer.
Byun Hee Bong made his debut as a voice actor in the 2nd generation of MBC in 1966 and later expanded his career as an actor, actively working in the industry for over 50 years on both the big screen and small screen.
He had previously undergone a health checkup and was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer before his appearance in the drama “Mr. Sunshine”. He openly shared this information during his appearance on a TVN variety show in 2019 and received a lot of support from viewers.
Recognized for his contributions in the field of popular culture, he received the Order of Cultural Merit in 2020.
The funeral hall for the deceased has been set up in room 17 of Samsung Seoul Hospital. The exact funeral procedures have not yet been determined.
