Lee Jung Jae
Lee Jung Jae was actually the first choice to play the male lead of K-drama “Full House”, which was all the rage in Korea when it was released in 2004. However, the actor turned down the offer since he was uninterested in small screen projects, and Bi Rain was selected in his place. While a lot of fans mourned Lee Jung Jae’s rejection, many people actually expressed relief. According to them, Lee Jung Jae looked a bit too old for Song Hye Kyo at the time, and Bi Rain and Song Hye Kyo managed to bring out the best chemistry.

After Won Bin, the production team of “Descendants of The Sun” offered their hand to Jo In Sung, hoping for a reunion between Jo In Sung and Song Hye Kyo after their massive hit “That Winter, The Wind Blows”. However, the actor decided against it, and introduced the crew to Song Joong Ki, giving way to the legendary Song-Song couple. Jo In Sung is close with Song Joong Ki in real life, and must have left that “Descendants of The Sun” was a suitable project for his friend.
Gong Yoo
Like the two aforementioned actors, Gong Yoo, despite invitations from the screenwriter Kim Eun Sook, rejected “Descendants of The Sun”. Instead, he accepted “Goblin”, which is penned by the same writer, after 5 years of calling. When asked about his hesitation, Gong Yoo shared that he felt unconfident playing K-dramas, seeing that he’s mostly appearing on the big screen.
Gong Yoo said he felt unconfident acting in K-dramas, and so rejected an offer to star with Song Hye Kyo.
Kim Woo Bin
While the reason as to why Kim Woo Bin turned down “Descendants of The Sun” remained unknown, many netizens explained that Woo Bin was reluctant about the military haircut and his outstanding height compared to normal Korean military officers. The role he turned down was later given to actor Song Joong Ki, and it really made a name for this actor!!
