“Insider” is an action suspense drama about Kim Yo Han, a judicial trainee who experiences a crisis while undercover for an investigation of a corrupt prosecutor and ends up struggling to try to obtain a hand of cards that will change his fate. While in prison, he begins to plot revenge for the betrayal he has experienced.
Kang Ha Neul’s character Kim Yo Han steps into the gambling ring to catch the weaknesses of corrupt prosecutors and ends up in prison after being embroiled in an unexpected incident. In a prison where law and common sense do not exist, Kim Yo Han moves as an “insider” who hides his identity and purpose in order to survive and get revenge.
The newly released stills portray Kim Yo Han’s life being turned upside down. At a gambling site, Kim Yo Han’s gaze shines with a sense of justice rather than greed like the others. Having heard about traces of the corrupt prosecutors at the location, Kim Yo Han’s goal isn’t to win the game in front of him but rather to obtain justice. However, the investigation seems to go awry as another still captures Kim Yo Han drenched in sweat with a swollen face.
Kim Yo Han’s infiltration goes beyond the gambling site to prison. His haggard face reveals how far he has to fall in order to chase his beliefs. A hardened Kim Yo Han returns to gambling once again. Behind his poker face, Kim Yo Han hides his desire for vengeance as he enters the second round of games. Viewers are highly anticipating Kim Yo Han’s dynamic reversal of the situation.
Regarding his reason for choosing to star in “Insider,” Kang Ha Neul shared, “It felt like I was reading a scenario. It was a story that made me anticipate the ending.” He added, “I was also curious about the charisma of director Min Yeon Hong who is said to lead the set enjoyably and smoothly. I was very happy to be able to feel this on set.”
Regarding the character of Kim Yo Han, Kang Ha Neul shared, “He’s a person whose sense of reason is like cold water, while his heart is like fire. Like fire, he walks a thin line between injustice and rage and his cold rationality. I put in a lot of thought to portray his inner feelings without exposing too much for each scene.”
“Insider” premieres on June 8 at 10:30 p.m. KST.
